Lisa Nantongo Shines at KidsPreneurs Uganda Summit with My School Bites

On a bright and buzzing day at Motiv – Kampala, young innovators from across the country gathered for the KidsPreneurs Uganda Summit—a platform celebrating the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Uganda’s youth. The stage was set for a fierce competition, with dozens of passionate students pitching their business ideas, all hoping to make a mark.

But when Lisa Nantongo, founder of My School Bites, stepped up to present, the atmosphere shifted.

With confidence, clarity, and a deep understanding of the real challenges faced by students in school canteens, Lisa presented My School Bites—an innovative, web-based food pre-order and delivery platform designed to save time for students and reduce waste for school canteens. Her solution directly addresses the everyday problem of long queues, food shortages, and poor inventory planning.

The judges were blown away by the practicality of the idea, the simplicity of its execution, and the potential impact it holds not just for schools, but for young delivery entrepreneurs as well.

And so, when the moment came to crown the best idea of the summit, My School Bites stood tall.

Lisa Nantongo was awarded the title of Best Innovative Idea at the KidsPreneurs Uganda Summit 2024. The victory is not just a win for her, but for the many students who will benefit from a smarter, more efficient food ordering experience in their schools.

“This award gives me the confidence to push harder. My School Bites is more than just a business—it’s about helping students focus on what matters and giving young people a chance to earn and grow,” Lisa shared after receiving the award.

Supported by Funlearn Club, a platform nurturing young innovators in Uganda, Lisa continues to break boundaries. From winning the Liberty Kuza School Challenge to becoming a finalist in the Stanbic National Schools Championship, My School Bites is proving that with the right idea, age is just a number.

The journey has only just begun. And with Lisa at the helm, the future of school food services is looking deliciously bright.
